Overview
KPV is the C-terminal tripeptide fragment of alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone. It carries the anti-inflammatory power of alpha-MSH without the melanocortin receptor pigmentation effects.
Small peptide. Big anti-inflammatory footprint. Especially in the gut.
Mechanism of action
- 01Suppresses NF-kB signaling in enterocytes and immune cells.
- 02Reduces pro-inflammatory cytokine release including TNF-alpha and IL-6.
- 03Inhibits mast cell degranulation in dermal and mucosal tissue.
- 04Acts independent of MC1R melanocortin receptor. No pigmentation change.
- 05Uptake via PepT1 transporter delivers KPV directly to inflamed intestinal tissue.
